Inclusion of deaf youth that have never learned sign language in vocational training
Light for the World through the EmployAble programme worked with technical and vocational education and training (TVET) centres and employers in Rwanda, Kenya and Ethiopia to improve the inclusion of youth with disabilities in the trainings and ensuing employment. Despite the success attained in the first three years of the program, youth with certain impairments were still left behind. One of these groups was Deaf youth who did not speak sign language. This learning brief reports on the outcomes of a Disability Inclusion Lab process conducted in Rwanda to explore solutions to the inclusion of Deaf Youth with no knowledge of sign language in Vocational Training.
