The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities is an independent expert body that oversees the implementation of the CRPD. On the occasion of the 24th session of the CRPD Committee, various stakeholders were invited to provide written submissions to the Committee’s General Comment on Article 27 – Work and employment.
This interpretative guideline is meant to clarify the legal obligations of State Parties and provide guidance for courts, policymakers and civil society to ensure compliance with the CPRD. In its submission, Light for the World shares good practices from our partner countries and allows us to look behind the scenes of advocacy work at the UN level. This document elaborates on Light for the World’s projects in the field of Economic Empowerment and experience in the implementation of Art. 27 CRPD.
